Hi friends,
I hope you are well ❤️
I’m writing to share some sad but hopeful news: my team and I are ending our entrepreneurship journey at the end of this year. This will mark the end of my 4.5 years of building and scaling MỞ. It has indeed been a challenging and rewarding roller coaster.
The Reason
We have decided to stop for a couple of reasons, but a big one is our dwindling conviction in our mission and WHY. The more we scaled up, the more I questioned what the problem we were trying to solve was. At one point, I had to accept that the problem wasn’t clear enough, which affected our conviction. Deciding to quit when we started seeing growth was not easy at all.
The Feeling & Learning
The past 2-3 months have not been easy. There were multiple times when I doubted myself and questioned whether I should keep going. It hurt so much that I felt like I was losing a part of my identity—something I’ve poured my heart and soul into over the past few years.
Now, I’m moving to a stage where I am grateful for my team, our community, and everything we have learned, built, and experienced together. I have learned a ton about building online education products and services, creating cohort-based courses, running a business, managing a team, building relationships with customers, and understanding who I am—more than I could have ever asked for.
We tried scaling, doubling down, and pivoting many times. We faced criticism and challenges regarding our products and methodology. We had to say goodbye to many of our favorite and best talents. There were many times we were scared and had no idea what and how to do.
But I’m glad we did it, scared.
Because we were able to cultivate friendships, build a community, learn about ourselves, and, more importantly, meet so many incredible students and instructors from all across Vietnam.
Because we were able to spread our caring culture, our ‘togetherness’ culture, and our belief in social learning.
I know that I will carry with me these values and cultures we have built and cultivated at MỞ into the next stage of my career and life.
In the next few months, I will share more reflections and learnings from this entrepreneurship journey in my Founder’s Journal series. If you are interested in being part of my reflection journey, please consider subscribing.
If you are interested in joining us for our last 3 cohort courses this year, we would love to learn and grow with you in our last chapter of MỞ.
I am always grateful to have you on my learning journey.
Kudos us for trying 🌹 🙌
